I recently spent some Christmas money on a new coat… I know I have a lot of coats and jackets already (eventually I’ll do a closet post) but I have yet to own a faux fur leopard print one… until now!
I walked into Anthropolgie this past Saturday to check out their sale items and take a look around for decor inspiration and I found the Elevenses Out of the Jungle coat in a size 2:
Pad around the urban wilderness in this plush faux-fur jacket and add a bit of animal accoutrement to both skinny jeans and evening dresses.
I’ve been looking for a faux fur leopard coat for a while and I think this the best I’ve seen so far, in person at least. Faux fur coats are a new addition to my wardrobe this past winter and leopard print is pretty daring for me. I tend to stick to neutrals but.. apparently leopard print is a neutral? And “versatile and timeless”? We’ll see I guess
Unfortunately the coat is no longer available and I really do wish it were a Size 0… but the size isn’t too large for me to pull off so I’ll still keep it.
The original price was $168 and I got it for $80+tax.
Here it is on.. the outfit I wore here isn’t very complimentary to the coat but here’s an idea of the fit:
The cut is admittedly boxy, and some of the reviews complain about it being too “cropped” but with my short stature it’s just the perfect length.
The leopard print is tempered which I like. The spots aren’t too dark and the quality of the faux fur (at least to me) is great and I love the long pile of the fur. The coat is also well-lined and the retro cut keeps it from being too “tart.” Short sleeves also mean I can show off some pretty rings or bangles 😉
My biggest gripes: I definitely could have gone a size down and there are tiny black clips in the front for closure… the clips are tiny and a pain to close, but I think the coat looks better open anyway. I’ll have to make sure that when I wear this I will keep the rest of my outfit slim as it can add bulk.
